Every single piece at Unkommon carries a piece of Arunima — her idea, her finishing touch, or her eye. She is not just the founder of this brand; she is its creative soul. Nothing leaves without her mark on it.
Arunima's journey with jewellery making spans more than a decade. She began right in college — not as a business plan, but as pure passion and curiosity. What started as a quiet creative pursuit slowly grew into something she could not contain: a craft that demanded to be shared.
She began teaching — first to students in Chinsurah, then to people in nearby cities, and eventually online to learners scattered across India. Hundreds of hands have learned to shape, stitch, and create through her guidance. Jewellery making, for Arunima, was never meant to stay with one person.
She took her work to trade fairs and exhibitions across India — carrying pieces made in quiet rooms in Hooghly to stages far beyond it. The response was overwhelming. Love came from every corner of the country, and from beyond Indian shores too. Each exhibition was proof that handmade, honest art needs no grand introduction — it speaks for itself.
When she realised the demand had grown beyond what a single pair of hands could meet, Arunima did what felt most natural: she trained other artisans. She passed on her techniques, her standards, and her eye for detail — building a small but devoted team of craftspeople who share her belief that every piece deserves to be exceptional.
Today, Unkommon is that vision made real — a brand where every item still begins with Arunima, even when many hands bring it to life.
