"Where the hands of artisans weave magic, and each stroke of a brush tells a story. At The Unkommon Brand, we are curators of India's timeless handicrafts, meticulously preserving heritage while igniting contemporary creativity."
The Unkommon Brand is a handmade jewellery and craft label born in Chinsurah, Hooghly — a historic town on the banks of the Ganges in West Bengal. It was founded by Arunima, a self-taught artisan who began her journey over a decade ago with an unstoppable passion for creating. What started as a personal pursuit of craft slowly grew into something larger: a quiet movement to preserve traditional Indian art forms by translating them into wearable, contemporary jewellery. Today, the brand works alongside more than 20 skilled artisans, many carrying techniques passed down through generations.

Every product is still touched by Arunima herself — she trains every artisan, oversees every finish, and ensures nothing leaves without her approval. The materials are intentionally simple: natural clay, fabric colours, pitchboard, thread, jute. No shortcuts. No synthetic shine. Just honest skill. The brand has grown organically through trade fairs across India, online workshops, and a devoted customer base that spans the country and beyond. Its philosophy is rooted in accessibility — jewellery that is artistically uncompromising but priced to belong on every woman, not just a shelf.

"I've never received so many compliments on a piece of jewellery. The Ajrakh necklace is absolutely stunning — you can feel the craft in every detail. It arrived beautifully packaged and felt like a true gift to myself."

"What sets Unkommon apart is the story behind each piece. I bought the clay art earrings and the little card explaining the artisan's craft made me value it so much more. This is what conscious buying looks like."

"Gifted the stitch-work bangles to my mother and she was moved to tears. She said it reminded her of the jewellery her grandmother used to wear. That kind of connection is priceless. Will always shop here."
